Pat Johnston
Pat Johnston is a consultant at Grahall, LLC based in Calgary. Pat has over 30 years of actuarial experience, providing a wide range of private and public sector organizations with the design, funding, administration and governance of their retirement programs. His primary areas of concentration include registered defined benefit plans and supplemental executive retirement programs.
Pat is a member of Total Reward Professionals (TRP), a team of seasoned consultants providing clients with advice and support in the areas of total rewards, compensation, executive compensation, pensions, benefits, financial planning and communication. Total Reward Professionals have a wide cross section of clients primarily in the Canadian Energy Sector.
Previously, Pat was a Principal and Office Manager at the Calgary office of a global actuarial consulting firm, where he was responsible for the pension and group benefit services provided to a wide-range of clients across western Canada.
Pat is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. He has an honours BA (mathematics) from the University of Western Ontario. Pat has also taken an active role in the profession, currently serving as a member on the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) Committee on Expert Evidence. Previously he served as a member of the CIA Practice Council, as Chairman of the CIA’s Pension Plan Financial Reporting Committee, and a Chairman of the Society of Actuaries Fall Pension Exam Committee.
